Details for the updated 2020 Jaguar XE have been announced with the dramatically paired-back range now starting at $65,670 plus on-road costs.
The exterior has received a mild update and now incorporates more of the styling of the F-Type sports car. Jaguar claims the XE has a “more purposeful and assertive stance” which appears wider and lower.
There are larger front apertures, new all-LED headlights with ‘J’ blade daytime running lights, while the rear gets a new bumper and slender all-LED tail-lights with updated signature graphics.
On the inside, there are more soft-touch materials, all-new door trims, sports-style seats with contrast stitching and a SportShift gear selector meaning the rotary dial is no more.
The XE also gets access to the latest Touch Pro Duo infotainment system and the steering wheel from the all-electric I-Pace, which features hidden-until-lit graphics and tactile switches for intuitive control of key functions.
The Australian XE range now consists of just two variants, R-Dynamic SE and HSE. Both are exclusively powered by the 2.0-litre 221kW/400Nm Ingenium turbo petrol engine matched to an eight-speed automatic that drives the rear wheels. Jaguar is claiming a 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.9 seconds.
Opening the range is the R-Dynamic SE ($65,670 plus on-roads), standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, electric leather seats, front and rear parking sensors, rear-view camera, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, DAB+, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Moving to the R-Dynamic HSE ($71,940 plus on-roads) adds 19-inch alloy wheels, Touch Pro Duo infotainment, blind spot monitoring, high-speed emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, 18-way front seats with driver’s memory, an electrically adjustable steering column and a Meridian audio system.
Jaguar has also simplified the range of options, buyers can now choose from five option packs to personalise their XE. Packs and pricing details are listed below. Of course, there is still plenty of stand-alone extras to consider.
