Specs and pricing have been announced for the updated 2020 Jeep Cherokee range.
For 2020, Jeep will offer the Cherokee in four trim levels with two engine options, pricing starts at $37,950 plus on-road costs for the entry-level Sport and tops out at $52,650 plus on-roads for the S-Limited.
The Cherokee Sport uses a 2.4-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine to produce 130kW and 229Nm. A nine-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. According to Jeep, the 0-100km/h dash takes 9.6 seconds.
Limited and S-Limited variants get a 3.2-litre naturally-aspirated V6 engine offering 200kW and 315Nm. Power goes to Jeep’s Active Drive I all-wheel drive system through a nine-speed automatic. The 0-100km/h sprint takes 7.5 seconds.
The off-road focussed Cherokee Trailhawk uses the same engine and transmission but gains the brand’s Active Drive four-wheel drive system with a locking rear differential and a two-speed transfer case. The Trailhawk can run from 0 to 100km/h in 8.5 seconds.
Every Cherokee is equipped with autonomous emergency braking with forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
