Kia has confirmed its new small SUV will be called the Seltos ahead of an official unveiling later this month.
According to Kia, the Seltos name is inspired by Greek mythology and the legend of Celtos, the son of Hercules.
The press release goes on to say “representing the brave and assertive spirit of Celtos, the ‘S’ in the vehicle’s adapted name implies speed and sportiness and brings the name in line with Kia’s Sportage and Sorento SUVs.”
The Seltos will slot in under the Sportage giving Kia an answer to the popular Mazda CX-3 and Hyundai Kona.
The Kia Seltos will be revealed later this month, with sales in Korea and other regions to follow in the second half of 2019.
