Kia has revealed a special edition Stinger GTS at the New York motor show, straight up, this one isn’t coming here, but we can dream.

The Stinger GTS is an all-wheel drive variant intended for the US market. The car is limited to 800 units with the headline act being the newly developed dynamic all-wheel drive system2 (D-AWD) that Kia says “inspires more spirited driving.”

The D-AWD system sends 60 per cent of the torque to the rear in Comfort mode, switch to Sport mode and it increases to 80 per cent, while Drift mode sends all the drive to the rear. Take that M5!

To maximise the potential of the GTS, Kia has incorporated a new Slip Control and Counter Steer Detection system. There’s also a remapped transmission to prevent unwanted upshifts.

The powertrain is the same as what we get in Oz comprising a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 developing 272kW and 510Nm, it’s matched to an eight-speed automatic.

Other enhancements to the GTS include the exclusive Federation orange paint colour, GTS badging, a centre Stinger emblem in place of the Kia logo on the boot, and genuine carbon-fibre parts that outline the signature tiger-nose grille, side mirror caps and side vents.

On the inside, buyers will find an Alcantara covered steering wheel and centre console along with a premium suede-like Chamude headliner.

To finish the package off, there’s also a 720W audio system, wireless phone charging and a sunroof.

All we can say to Kia is, bring this one here, please!
