Mercedes-AMG has revealed an updated version of the GLC43 in both SUV and coupe body styles ahead of a local release early next year.

AMG has been able to extract an additional 17kW from the 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 petrol engine, it now produces 287kW and 520Nm. A nine-speed automatic transmission sends power to the brand’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

The 4Matic all-wheel drive features rear-biased torque distribution with a front/rear axle split of 31 to 69 per cent.

Both models can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 250km/h. Depending on the specification, fuel consumption on the combined cycle is rated at 10.2-10.6L/100km.

The AMG Dynamics suite of drive modes is included, drivers can choose from Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. Each mode modifies the engine, transmission, suspension and steering settings to match the driving situation.

External changes include an AMG-specific radiator grille, new headlights and tail-lights, updated front apron, matte black fins over the air intakes with silver trim elements, twin tailpipe finishers and fresh AMG light-alloy wheels ranging from 19- to 21-inches.

On the inside, the MBUX infotainment system with AMG-specific functions is standard and incorporates the "Hey Mercedes" voice controls and two display screens consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen. There’s also the latest AMG steering wheel.

The 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 and GLC43 Coupe are expected to arrive early next year, Australian specifications and pricing will be announced closer to the launch date.
