Updates have been announced for the paired back 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT range which brings the Coupe and Roadster into line with the recently launched AMG GT 4-Door.
For 2020, the base model has been dropped from the local line-up meaning the GT S Coupe is now the entry point to the range, it’s priced from $311,142 plus on-road costs, meaning the cost of GT ownership has risen by $50k.
All models get a new centre console with AMG Drive Unit controls placed in a stylised V8 arrangement, the latest AMG Performance steering wheel, a 12.3-inch fully-customisable digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There’s also new LED headlights, alloy wheels and paint colours, along with the addition of the Mercedes me Connect system which allows the driver to control several key functions, as well as view vehicle data and service information via a smartphone app. Traffic sign recognition has also been added to the safety package.
Further equipment highlights on the GT S includes heated and electric AMG sports seats trimmed in Nappa leather, an AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather/Dinamica, a panoramic sunroof, a 10-speaker Burmester sound system, active cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, and the AMG Track Pace system that logs and downloads data from track events.
AMG Ride Control suspension, an AMG electronic limited-slip differential, an AMG selectable exhaust system, an AMG high-performance composite braking system with red brake callipers, a retractable rear aerofoil, a hands-free sensor to open the boot lid, and staggered 19- and 20-inch AMG alloy wheels finished in matte black with a high-sheen finish are also included as standard.
The GT C is available in Coupe and Roadster body styles and brings AMG Performance seats with ventilation, a Dinamica steering wheel and AMG 19/20-inch alloy wheels in titanium grey.
The AMG Dynamic Plus Package is also included and contains dynamic engine and transmission mounts, as well as tautly tuned suspension and a specific steering tune, complemented by AMG rear axle steering.
Moving to the flagship GT R Coupe adds the AMG Interior Night Package which highlights key trim features in high-gloss black, the AMG interior piano lacquer package, Nappa/Dinamica upholstery, carbon-fibre roof, static rear aerofoil, yellow brake calipers and sport tyres.
Power continues to come from the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 in various states of tune. The GT S gets outputs of 384kW/670Nm, the GT C model develops 410kW/680Nm, while the GT R produces 430kW/700Nm. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sends drive to the rear wheels.
In terms of performance, the GT S can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 310km/h. The GT C can hit triple figures from rest in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 317km/h in Coupe guise or 316km/h for the Roadster. The range-topping GT C runs from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds and maxes out at 318km/h.
The updated Mercedes-AMG GT range will begin arriving locally in October.
