Local specifications and pricing have been announced for the 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo which now starts at a whopping $378,000 plus on-road costs.

Differentiating the Nismo variant from the rest of the GT-R range is greater use of carbon-fibre which is used on the front fenders, bonnet and roof to reduce the weight by 10.5kg.

Also saving weight is the engine thanks to new turbochargers with 0.3mm-thinner vanes, it’s the same setup that’s found on the GT3 race car and accounts for a 14.5 per cent reduction in mass.

The turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 engine produces 441kW of power and 652Nm of torque. A revised six-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power to a constant all-wheel drive system.

Other enhancements include enhanced yaw-rate response, improved steering, retuned Bilstein DampTronic shocks and spring rates, and new 20-inch rays forged aluminium wheels in a nine-spoke design wrapped in new, stickier Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT600 tyres. According to Nissan, the new tread pattern offers an 11 per cent greater contact area with the road, while overall grip is improved by 7 per cent.

There is also a new brake package from Brembo which includes special large yellow six-piston front and four-piston rear callipers with carbon-ceramic rotors measuring in at 410mm at the front and 390mm at the rear. To add to this there are also specially formulated brake pads.

Further equipment highlights include Recaro race seats, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring satellite navigation with 3D mapping.
