Land Rover Australia has announced the 2020 Range Rover will be available with the company’s latest 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology.

In 400PS guise, the new powerplant develops 294kW and 550Nm which can propel the luxury barge from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds on its way to a top speed of 225km/h.

The new engine uses an electric supercharger and a twin-scroll turbocharger to provide the thrust while reducing turbo lag.

To improve efficiency, the new Ingenium petrol engine is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that uses an electric motor to harvest energy through deceleration which can be re-deployed through torque-assist. The result is a claimed consumption figure of 9.3L/100km on the combined cycle.

In addition to the powertrain, two new colours have been added to the palate - Corris Grey and Portofino Blue. There’s also new 22-inch gloss black alloy wheels.

The Matrix and Pixel LED headlights have also been updated to include Sign Post Dimming which identifies road signs and turns off the individual LEDs that could reflect back and cause glare for the driver.

A Tourist Mode has also been added to the Pixel LED lights, which allows the driver to select whether they are driving on the left or right-hand side of the road and adjust the beam pattern accordingly. Obviously, this is best suited to European markets.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both included in the new Smartphone Pack which is standard across the range.

Australian pricing for the 20MY Range Rover will be released later this month, with first deliveries set to commence from October 2019.
