Renault Australia has confirmed specs and pricing for the new Kadjar SUV, which will arrive locally priced from $29,990 plus on-roads costs.
The French marque claims the mid-sized SUV will feature the latest safety, infotainment and connectivity systems and be a “haven of calm and comfort to travel in”.
Three trim levels will be available – Life, Zen and Intens – all powered by a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which develops 117kW of power and 260Nm of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic sends power to the front wheels.
Design-wise the Kadjar features a more fluid exterior rather than a traditional boxy SUV aesthetic. Highlights include muscular front wings, pronounced rear shoulders, slightly sculpted sides and doors which finish flush with the sills. Completing the look are 17- and 19-inch alloy wheels.
There are also front and rear skid plates, lower door protective mouldings, black wheel arch extensions and anodised satin grey roof bars with bling found in the chromed window surround, sill guard and daytime running light surrounds.
Internally a horizontal dashboard houses a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system running the R-LINK 2 platform featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Buyers can upgrade to a Bose audio system.
In terms of safety, the Kadjar includes autonomous emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and cruise control with speed limiter.
Zen and Intens models will also feature side parking sensors, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning and handsfree keycard with automatic locking and welcome function. Easy park assist is exclusive to the Intens grade.
Base-model Life vehicles get cloth seats with manual adjustment while Zen models upgrade to leatherette trim and lumbar support. The flagship Intens grade moves to leather seats which are electrically-adjustable and heated.
A fixed panoramic sunroof and auto-dimming rear-view mirror can be optioned on the Zen model for $1000, while metallic paint is $750.
Keen buyers can place a reservation online with the first deliveries expected in November this year.
