Australian specs and pricing have been announced for the 2020 Skoda Scala range ahead of its showroom arrival in June.
Skoda will offer three trim levels with prices starting at $26,990 drive-away for the 110TSI manual and topping out at $35,990 drive-away for the Launch Edition.
When it touches down, the Scala will be competing against the Volkswagen Golf, Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3 and Hyundai i30.
Dimensionally, the Scala 4362mm long, 1793mm wide and 1471mm tall, with a 2649mm wheelbase. Cargo capacity is 467L which expands to 1490L with the rear seat folded down.
The entry-level 110TSI gets 18-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, LED tail-lights, adaptive cruise control, an automatic tailgate, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster (virtual cockpit).
Monte Carlo variants take on a sporty flavour with lowered suspension, sports seats and pedals, and red ambient lighting.
The range-topping Launch Edition adds leather and suede seat trim, heated front and rear seats and a 9.2-inch infotainment touchscreen. It will also be the first Skoda in Australia to offer wireless Apple CarPlay.
A full rundown of each model’s equipment highlights can be found below.
Every variant is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard in the base car with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic available as an option. The Monte Carlo and Launch Edition get the auto as standard. All models are front-wheel drive.
Skoda says the Scala can run from 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds, while fuel consumption on the combined cycle is 5.0L/100km. Keen buyers should note, the Scala requires 95 RON premium unleaded.
