Specs and pricing have been confirmed for the 2020 Toyota Corolla range headlined by additional equipment including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This update was originally announced in July and sees the SX and ZR hatchbacks gain the parking support brake (PKSB) system. The tech uses sensors to detect both static objects and crossing vehicles behind the car that pose a potential hazard, it can suppress the driving force and apply the brakes from a standstill up to speeds of 15km/h in two stages. Rear cross-traffic alert is also included along with front and rear parking sensors.

The parking support brake (PKSB) joins autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and a rear-view camera as part of the Corolla’s safety package.

Range-topping ZR variants gain rain-sensing wipers, an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, along with the choice of two-tone colourways that add a black roof, pillars and hatch-top spoiler with a choice of Crystal Pearl, Volcanic Red, Oxide Bronze, Silver Pearl, Eclectic Blue or the all-new Feverish Red body colours.

Feverish Red can be optioned on the Ascent Sport and mid-range SX variants as well.

All models will get Toyota’s latest multimedia system with the aforementioned Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included as standard.

Depending on the model, the 2020 update comes with price rises of between $465 and $1765, a full list can be found below.

Powertrains are carried over, giving buyers the choice of a 2.0-litre 125kW/200Nm naturally-aspirated petrol engine or a 1.8-litre 90kW hybrid system. The entry-level 2.0-litre
Ascent Sport is still available with a manual, while the rest of the range gets a CVT automatic.

Toyota Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said the upgrades to the Corolla hatch provided customers with an improved ownership experience and was part of Toyota's goal of offering customers the very latest advanced technology.

"When Toyota launched the all-new Corolla hatch last year, our customers appreciated the high level of safety and features in the car but technology is always evolving and Toyota is keen to offer customers more options to further improve the vehicles they drive, whether from a safety, comfort or style perspective," Mr Hanley said.

The updated Corolla will be available in dealerships across Australia on November 1.
