Local specs and pricing have been announced for the 2020 Volkswagen T-Cross, the brand’s new compact SUV, which is available to order now from $27,990 plus on-road costs.
At launch, two grades will be available - the 85TSI Life and 85TSI Style priced from $27,990 and $30,990 plus on-roads respectively.
Both variants are powered by a 1.0-litre 85kW/200Nm three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine hooked up to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.
In June, the 110TSI Style model will join the range, it uses a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 110kW and 250Nm. Pricing for the flagship is yet to be announced.
Standard equipment on the 85TSI Life includes 16-inch alloy wheels, wireless smartphone charging, a rear-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, an 8.0-inch infotainment system, and autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring.
Moving to the 85TSI Style adds 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.
The 110TSI Style gets 18-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, gloss black wing mirrors and a unique black-grey design cloth trim.

Now, for the first time, there is an affordable German compact SUV, one that as the Tiguan and Touareg do in their respective segments, transcends the gulf between the mass market brands and those perceived as prestige."
