Audi has pulled the covers off the new fully electric e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback models.
The e-tron S variants will be the first production electric vehicles to use three electric motors, two electric motors on the rear axles and one on the front, which will offer 370kW of power and a whopping 973Nm of torque.
According to Audi, both the e-tron S body styles are capable of hitting 100km/h in less than 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 209km/h.
When the 95kWh battery pack is fully charged, the e-tron S has a driving range 359km (WLTP cycle), while the e-tron S Sportback can cover 364km thanks to its more aerodynamic shape.
For improved efficiency, the rear motors will be engaged in normal driving mode with the third motor at the front reserved for performance driving or predictively before traction is broken.
Each of the rear electric motors sends torque directly to the wheels via a single-speed transmission eliminating the needs for a mechanical differential.
Externally, the S models get unique front and rear bumpers, a rear diffuser spanning the width of the body, 23mm wider wheel arches, silver detailing, 21-inch wheels and black painted brake calipers.
On the inside, S models get electrically adjustable sports seats upholstered in fine Nappa leather with embossed āSā logos, brushed aluminium or carbon inserts, ambient lighting, and the latest MMI touch response control system with MMI navigation plus.
Audi Australia is yet to confirm local availability and pricing.
