Australian specs and pricing have been announced for the 2021 Audi S8 ahead of a local arrival in October.
Priced from $260,000 plus on-road costs, power comes from a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 with mild-hybrid technology to produce 420kW and 800Nm.
An eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission sends power to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
Under normal driving conditions, the torque split is 40:60, front to rear, however up to 85 per cent of the drive can be directed to the rear wheels.
Audi claims the S8 can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 250km/h.
Equipment highlights include all-wheel steering, predictive active air suspension, HD Matrix LED headlights, OLED tail-lights, 21-inch aluminium wheels, red brake calipers, metallic paint and rear privacy glass.
On the inside, buyers get the latest MMI touch infotainment system wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a virtual cockpit with unique displays, a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D premium sound system, Valcona leather trim, carbon vector and dark brushed aluminium inlays, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, and front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions.
Standard safety gear includes a head-up display, adaptive cruise control with stop & go and traffic jam assist, autonomous emergency braking, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, exit warning, rear cross-traffic, speed limiter, lane change warning, side assist and turn assist. The S8 also gets a new front centre airbag.
