BMW has revealed its new 128ti hot hatch ahead of a market launch early next year.
The German marque says the front-wheel drive 128ti is a “compact sports car” that will give it a rival to the VW Golf GTI, Hyundai i30 N, Ford Focus ST and the Renault Megane RS.
Sitting beneath the M135i xDrive, the 128ti will be powered by a 195kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Drive is sent to the front axle through an eight-speed automatic transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
BMW says the 128ti will feature a bespoke suspension and steering tune and can dash from 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds.
The specifically tuned M sport suspension has been lowered by 10mm and includes BMW Performance Control which has been specially adapted for increased agility.
The 128ti is around 80kg lighter when compared to the M135i xDrive and gets M sport brakes.
Locally, the 128ti is expected to launch early in 2021, full specifications and pricing will be announced closer to its arrival.
