Local specs and pricing have been announced for the 2021 BMW 128ti ahead of a showroom arrival in the first quarter of next year.
Priced from $56,900 plus on-road costs, the 128ti fills the gap between the entry-level 118i and M135i xDrive Pure.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine developing 195kW of power and 400Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front axle through an eight-speed automatic transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
BMW says the 128ti will feature a bespoke suspension and steering tune and can dash from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds. The top speed is listed at 243km/h.
The specifically tuned M sport suspension has been lowered by 10mm and includes BMW Performance Control which has been specially adapted for increased agility.
The 128ti is around 80kg lighter when compared to the M135i xDrive and gets M sport brakes with red calipers as standard.
Further equipment highlights include the Comfort Access System, 18-inch M light alloy wheels with performance tyres, adaptive LED headlights, high-beam assistant, BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line, and an M rear spoiler.
On the inside, buyers get Cloth/Sensatec upholstery black with red stitching, M seat belts, an M leather steering wheel with red stitching, floor mats in velour with red accents, electric seat adjustment and dual-zone automatic air-conditioning.
