BMW Australia has announced specs and pricing for the controversial new 4 Series Coupe range ahead of a local arrival in October.
At launch, BMW will offer three grades - the 420i, 430i and M440i xDrive – all powered by turbo-petrol engines.
Pricing starts at $70,900 plus on-road costs for the 420i and tops out at $116,900 plus on-roads for the 440i xDrive.
The 420i is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 135kW and 300Nm. The 430i uses the same engine, however, it’s tuned to deliver 190kW and 400Nm. Both variants use an eight-speed automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels.
BMW claims a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.5 seconds for the 420i and 5.8 seconds for the 430i.
Until the new M4 arrives, the M440i xDrive will act as the range-topper. It gets a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six developing 275kW and 500Nm, it’s matched to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. BMW says it will hit triple figures from rest in 4.8 seconds.
Dimensionally, when compared to the outgoing model, the new 4 Series Coupe is 128mm longer (4768mm), 27mm wider (1852mm) and 6mm higher (1382mm), while the wheelbase has been stretched by 41mm (2851mm).
BMW’s latest Operating System 7.0 infotainment system will be included across the range. The set-up comprises a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. The system features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The brand’s Remote Software Upgrade tech is also standard, it enables improved vehicle functions, the ability to update the vehicle software and additional digital services to be imported over the air.
