Ford Australia has announced the Ranger Wildtrak X will return to showrooms early next year priced from $66,490 plus on-road costs.

For 2021, the Wildtrak X gets Sabre orange highlights on the sail plane and nostrils, while Ebony Black replaces the Bolder Grey accents across many of the exterior features including the wheel-arch flares, grille, bumper trims, mirror caps, roof rails, and door and tailgate handles.

On the inside, buyers get a unique black leather seat trim with Sabre orange accents, additional leather covering for the side bolsters, and new illuminated front door sills.

Over the regular Wildtrak, the Wildtrak X variants also feature black 18-inch alloy wheels with +35 offset, black side steps, and a black nudge bar with a 20.5-inch LED light bar.

Interestingly, the A-pillar-mounted snorkel from the previous model looks to have been dropped.

Equipment carried over from the donor car includes bi-LED headlights, keyless entry, push-button start, a power roller shutter for the tray, an electronic rear differential lock, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and satellite navigation.

Buyers can choose from two powertrain options starting with the familiar 3.2-litre 147kW/470Nm five-cylinder turbo-diesel engine mated with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Alternatively, the 2.0-litre 157kW/500Nm four-cylinder bi-turbo matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission is available.

The updated Ranger Wildtrak X is expected to arrive locally in February.
