Lexus has announced the ES300h hybrid sedan is getting a safety boost for 2021.

 

Due in showrooms next month, all 2021 ES300h variants will come equipped with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert+ brake which will automatically brake if the system detects an oncoming vehicle from behind.

 

There is only one powertrain option with every ES300h using a 2.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine and an electric motor to produce 160kW.

 

Drive is sent to the front wheels via a hybrid-optimised e-CVT automatic transmission.

 

Lexus claims the hybrid powertrain sips just 4.8L/100km on the combined cycle.

 

While Lexus Australia has opted to exclusively offer the ES as a hybrid, overseas markets still enjoy a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine.
