Australian specs and pricing have been confirmed for the 2021 Toyota Yaris Cross which goes on sale next week.
 
Pricing starts at $26,990 plus on-road costs for the GX 2WD petrol and tops out at $34,990 plus on-roads for the GXL AWD hybrid.
 
The 2WD petrol variants are powered by a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine that develops 88kW and 145Nm, it’s matched to a CVT automatic transmission.
 
Hybrid models also use a 1.5-litre three-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine combined with two electric motor generators to produce 85kW.
 
The hybrid AWD variants gain a third, rear electric motor. The on-demand AWD system can split between 100 per cent of the torque to the front wheels and up to 40 per cent to the front and 60 per cent to the rear.
 
All models come standard with autonomous emergency braking with daytime intersection assistance and emergency steering assist, and the new automatic collision notification through Toyota Connected Services.
 
Further equipment highlights include 16-inch alloy wheels, climate control, smart entry and start, adaptive cruise control, a rear-view camera and the latest generation infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
 
Moving to the GXL adds satellite navigation, LED headlights, blind-spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera.
 
Urban models also get larger 18-inch alloys, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a power tailgate with kick sensor.
 
The Yaris Cross officially goes on sale November 2.
