Toyota Australia has announced pricing for the new 2021 Yaris range which now starts at $22,130 plus on-road costs.
The new entry price is a significant jump over the outgoing model which started at $15,390 plus on-road.
At launch, three trim levels will be available – Ascent Sport, SX and ZR – with both petrol and hybrid powertrain options. A GR performance model will also join the range at a later date.
Entry-level Ascent Sport variants are powered by a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 88kW of power and 145Nm of torque. It’s available with a a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic.
The mid-spec SX and range-topping ZR models are offered with the aforementioned petrol unit or a 1.5-litre 85kW petrol-electric hybrid option. Toyota says the hybrid powertrain sips 3.3L/100km on the combined cycle.
Dimensionally, the new Yaris is 3940mm long, 1695mm wide and 1505mm tall, with a 2550mm wheelbase. The boot capacity is 270L.
In terms of standard equipment, the Ascent Sport gets 15-inch steel wheels, LED daytime running lamps, 60/40 split-fold rear seats, a USB port, and a 7.0-inch display screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Also standard is an autonomous emergency braking system which can detect vehicles and pedestrians in the day or at night. Cyclists can also be detected during the day.
Traffic sign recognition, lane-keeping assist and a new front-row centre airbag are also included.
Moving to the mid-range SX adds satellite navigation, keyless entry, push-button start, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and tail-lights, piano-black and satin interior finishes, leather-accented steering wheel and digital meters.
Top-spec ZR models get 16-inch alloys, a rear spoiler, a head-up display, blind-spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, sports seats and pedals, and piano black trim and red inserts.
