Specs and pricing have been announced for the new BMW 2 Series Coupe range ahead of a local arrival late in 2021.
At launch, BMW will offer two variants: the rear-wheel drive 220i and the all-wheel drive M240i xDrive.
The new 2 Series Coupe rides on the CLAR architecture from the current 3 Series instead of the platform used on the 2 Series Gran Coupe.
Power in the 220i comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 135kW of power and 300Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends drive to the rear wheels.
BMW says the base 220i can sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds.
The M240i xDrive gets a 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged petrol engine that offers 285kW of power and 500Nm of torque. It’s matched to an eight-speed automatic and a rear-biased all-wheel drive system.
According to BMW, the M240i xDrive can complete the 0-100km/h dash in 4.3 seconds.

Dimensionally, the new 2 Series Coupe measures in at 4537mm long, 1838mm wide and 1390mm tall, with a 2741mm wheelbase.
The new 2 Series Coupe is available to order now with deliveries set to commence toward the end of this year.
