Specs and pricing have been announced for the expanded 2022 BMW M3 and M4 range which now includes all-wheel drive and convertible versions.
BMW launched the new M3 and M4 in rear-wheel drive configurations with the base car equipped with a manual transmission.
The three new variants sit at the top of the tree and are badged M3 and M4 Competition xDrive. At this stage, the drop-top is only offered in the flagship trim.
Power comes from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six petrol engine producing 375kW and 650Nm. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends drive to all four corners.
BMW claims the xDrive sedan and coupe can run from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds while the convertible takes 3.7 seconds.
The top speed is electronically-limited to 250km/h across all models, however, the optional M Driver's Package can up that to 290km/h in the sedan and coupe, or 280km/h in the convertible.
BMW has reverted to a soft-top for the convertible in place of a folding metal roof used in the previous model. The roof is 40 per cent lighter and requires less space when retracted which liberates an additional 80L of boot space for a total of 300L or 385L with the roof up.
Buyers can choose a black or Anthracite Silver roof that can be operated at speeds of up to 50km/h.
An M3 Touring wagon will join the local range in due course.
The M3 and M4 Competition xDrive models are available to order now with deliveries set to commence in the fourth quarter of 2021.
