Specs and pricing have been announced for the new 2022 Isuzu MU-X ahead of a showroom arrival next month.
Built on the same platform as the D-Max, the new version of the off-road wagon gets a significant tech and safety upgrade along with higher prices.
Isuzu will offer LS-M, LS-U and LS-T trim levels in both rear- and all-wheel drive configurations.
Prices start at $47,990 plus on-road costs for the rear-wheel drive LS-U and top out at $65,900 plus on-roads for the LS-T 4x4.
Scroll down for each grade’s equipment highlights.
All models are powered by the same 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine as the D-Max ute, making 140kW and 450Nm.
In 4x2 variants, drive is sent to the rear axle through a six-speed automatic transmission.
4x4 models also use a six-speed auto, but gain a switchable four-wheel drive system with high- and low-range, along with a locking rear differential.
The MU-X has a 3500kg braked towing capacity and a larger 80L fuel tank for those wanting to explore.
Dimensionally, the new MU-X measures 4850mm long, 1870mm wide and 1815mm tall, with a 2855mm wheelbase. For context, when compared to the outgoing car it’s 25mm longer, 10mm wider and up to 35mm lower, with a 10mm longer wheelbase.
Ground clearance is 230mm in LS-M models, and 235mm in the LS-U and LS-T.
The MU-X’s approach, departure, and ramp-over angles have jumped to 29.2, 26.4, and 23.1 degrees respectively, while the wading depth is 800mm.
The new MU-X range officially goes on sale on 2nd August, 2021.
