After a spate of negative attention for Ford recently, they have endeavoured to put behind them the tumultuous few months and have announced that the Ford Focus RS Limited Edition will be available for Australian buyers.
Arriving in November 2017, an initial batch of 500 cars will be on offer. The Focus RS Limited Edition will be an upgraded version of the current Focus RS.
These upgrades begin with Quaife Limited-Slip Differential (LSD) included as standard which is paired with the Performance Wheel Pack. This pack upgrades the wheels to 19-inch forged alloy wrapped in Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tyres. On the regular Focus RS, this is a $3,500 option.
Next on the upgrades list are Recaro shell-seats featuring Nitrous Blue detail, SYNC 3 with voice-activated satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a full-colour 8-inch touchscreen display, Active City Stop (autonomous emergency braking) and privacy glass.
Externally, minor aesthetic changes have been employed to boost the appearance. Gloss-black ‘Absolute Black’ roof, mirror caps and rear spoiler contrast the Nitrous colour palette and allude to the limited edition status.
The same 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine, with 257kW of power, matched with a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel-drive from the current Focus RS are also found in the RS Limited Edition.
Ford President and CEO Graeme Whickman said: “Ford’s performance models are an important part of our lineup, and we’re excited to offer Australians an even more capable version of the Focus RS, which has struck a chord with driving enthusiasts across the country.”
The Ford Focus RS Limited Edition will touch down in Australia from November 2017 for $56,990 before on-road costs.
