The Honda Civic Type R hot hatch is the latest recruit to join the NSW Police Force as part of a 12-month sponsored partnership.

The Civic Type R will be used as part of the Eyewatch social media initiative with the goal of connecting people with their local police and encouraging the community to become active participants in making their area safer.

Since it was created in 2012 the Eyewatch program has seen almost 1 million people connect via Facebook using over 70 Eyewatch pages daily in New South Wales. In turn the police use Eyewatch to offer crime prevention and safety tips, seek community assistance to help locate missing or wanted people, and provide advice and information on local crimes, incidents and emergencies.

Sporting a ‘full Police livery’, the Civic Type R will also boast the distinctive ‘Eyewatch’ program logo making it stand out even more. The NSW Police Force will take the hot hatch to school and community events across NSW throughout 2019.

The first official duty is scheduled at the annual Fairfield Police and Community Expo on Saturday 16th March 2019 at Emerson Reserve in Wetherill Park. The Civic Type R will be on display alongside various units of the NSW Police Force, including Local Police, Polair, Mounted Police, Dog Unit, Public Order and Riot Squad, Traffic and Highway Patrol Cars and the Tactical Operations Unit.
