To commemorate 70 years of Jaguar sports cars, beginning with the XK 120, the British marque has announced the arrival of the F-Type Chequered Flag Limited Edition.
Based on the F-Type R-Dynamic trim level, the Chequered Flag LE will be available in coupe and convertible body styles with four- and six-cylinder engine options.
Equipment highlights include a Windsor leather interior, performance seats with embossed headrests, a dark brushed aluminium centre console trim finisher, a series of Chequered Flag logos and a steering wheel with a red leather band to mark the 12 o’clock position.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto finally debut on the F-Type as part of the Touch Pro infotainment system. It also features a 10-inch touchscreen with Meridian audio.
The Chequered Flag’s exterior is decorated with the Black Design Pack, which brings 20-inch gloss black wheels with diamond turned finish and extended SVO side sills to subtly increase the car’s visual width. The coupe also gets a black contrast roof.
Power comes from the 221kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine or the 250kW/450Nm and 280kW/460Nm supercharged 3.0-litre petrol V6 units.
All engines are matched to an eight-speed Quickshift transmission that sends drive to the rear wheels across the range, however, the range-topping 280kW V6 can be purchased with all-wheel drive.
Along with the Chequered Flag LE, Jaguar announced MY20 updates for the wider F-Type range.
The F-Type R borrows the damper tune from the SVR to improve ride comfort at low speeds. To smooth out the ride, engineers have reducing the damping by 24 per cent at the lower damping velocities (up to 0.3m/s), whilst increasing overall capacity by up to 30 per cent.
Additionally, the R also gets the rear upper ball joint from the SVR with modifications to the rear knuckle and upper control arm, to further enhance capability and system robustness.
The new model year also sees a rear-view camera and front park sensors become standard equipment across all F-Type variants.
