Kia’s new 12.3-inch ‘Supervision’ digital driver instrument cluster has been teased ahead of its official reveal later this month.

The Supervision cluster will debut on European versions of the XCeed, the cluster is designed to deliver information as clearly as possible using a high-resolution 1920x720-pixel display.

The traditional speedometer and tachometer dials are now replaced with a single, seamless display which includes information dials for vehicle and engine speeds, with a fast frame-rate enabling it to react quickly and smoothly to instructions and inputs from the driver.

Also included in the cluster between the two digital dials is a multi-function display which can be controlled via a button on the steering wheel. It can display information including turn-by-turn navigation, audio information, phone calls and contacts, and in-depth trip information.

Alerts and notifications from the active safety and driver assist technologies as well as live traffic and navigation system are also displayed in the multi-function display. The driver attention warning system also operates from this section.

Emilio Herrera, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Motors Europe, commented that the new instrument cluster boasts a “wide range of features, particularly on higher-specification models, this cluster will play an important role in displaying critical information to the driver in a clear, unobtrusive way.”

The new instrument cluster is expected to make its way into a variety of high spec Kia models in the not-too-distant future.
