The Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition has arrived in Australia priced from $49,990 plus on-road costs.
First revealed at the Chicago motor show in February, the MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition is distinguished by the Racing Orange exterior paint which was developed in-house, Mazda says the colour “evokes the breaking dawn of an exciting new day.”
Other features include RAYS forged alloys wheels (RAYS ZE40 RS30) developed exclusively for the MX-5, Bilstein dampers, Brembo front brake calipers and Nissin calipers at the rear.
In keeping with the exterior, orange highlights are found on the vent surrounds, seats, steering wheel, door trims, dashboard, gear shifter and the parking brake lever.
The interior has been fitted out with Recaro seats and Alcantara on the door cards, dashboard and the centre of the seats. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.
The Anniversary model’s arrival coincides with the rollout of standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for all MX-5 models.
Being based on the 2.0-litre GT variant, the MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition packs 135kW of power and 205Nm of torque.
Production is limited to 3000 units worldwide, including both soft-top and retractable hardtop models. Australia received an allocation of just 30 examples, all of which were soft-top models.
Of the 30 examples, ten were claimed by Victorian MX-5 fans, nine are headed to New South Wales, four will have a new home in Queensland, three will be found in the ACT whilst two will make their way to South Australia and Tasmania will be home to one example of the special edition.
