Coinciding with the launch of the new Forester, Subaru has joined Tesla in offering its entire range for sale online.

Subaru originally used the “Build and Buy” tool for the launch of the BRZ in 2012, it has since been used for the 2013 WRX STI and the 2017 Impreza and XV.

The Build and Buy portal is straightforward and allows buyers to select any Subaru variant and spec the car to their liking. Once colour, transmission choice and accessories are ticked, the system presents a drive-away price. Buyers still need to engage with a dealer to organise delivery.

While it’s not good for those who like to haggle, there are plenty of buyers who would prefer to avoid the dealership sales experience.

Subaru Australia Managing Director, Colin Christie, said: “The latest evolution of ‘Build and Buy’ presents an exciting opportunity for Subaru and our customers.

“The ability to purchase a vehicle entirely online ensures we continue to offer access to Subaru when and where our customers want.”

“Build and Buy, which continues to deliver on our Subaru ‘do’ philosophy, makes buying a Subaru fun, flexible and convenient,” he added.

Subaru is becoming an innovator when it comes to customer interaction, along with online purchasing, the brand is also trying its hand at pop-up stores, along with shopping centre showrooms and service centres.
