It’s been another quiet week with only two vehicle recall notices issued; one from Mercedes-Benz and the other from Mitsubishi.
A large number of 2015-2019 Mercedes-Benz VS20 Vito vans (VINs found here) have been recalled due to an issue that sees vehicles with an auxiliary battery installed under the front driver seat potentially not including a seat base cover.
The lack of the seat base cover may result in the seat base being used as a storage compartment, which is not its intended use. In turn, this could lead to a short circuit and possible fire if a conductive object is stored in the compartment and connects the two battery terminals.
Affected owners are asked to contact their preferred Mercedes-Benz dealer to arrange for a free cover to be fitted.
Also recalled this week was a colossal number of 2015-2019 Mitsubishi Triton utes (MQ and MR) (VINs found here) which may have an issue with incorrectly installed genuine towbar wiring harness components.
Affected harnesses may allow liquids to contact electrical circuits which could cause overheating burning or potentially fire which will increase the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.
Mitsubishi Motors will contact known owners to advise that their vehicle needs to visit a dealer.
