Volkswagen has revealed its latest fully electric concept, the ID Space Vizzion, at the LA motor show.
Based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) the exterior features apertures that channel air through a horizontal panel between the headlights and directs the flow to the rear over the extremely low-slung bonnet to optimise aerodynamics.
On the inside, there’s also a digital cockpit with relevant driving information displayed on an augmented reality head-up display. All entertainment, comfort and online functions, as well as vehicle settings are grouped together on a Tesla-style 15.6-inch touchscreen.
There’s some innovation at work when it comes to interior materials, the AppleSkin artificial leather contains by-products from apple juice production.
ID Space Vizzion uses an 82kWh battery capacity which allows for a driving range of up to 590km (WLTP cycle). The total system output is 250kW, while the 0-100km/h sprint takes 5.4 seconds.
A production version of the car will be presented at the end of 2021 ahead of a planned launch in Europe, North America and China.
