HSV has announced specs and pricing for the SportsCat Series 2 ute which gets a new naming structure and tweaked styling.
The revised nomenclature sees the base SportsCat become the SportsCat V and the SportsCat+ now called the SportsCat SV.
Styling changes include a gloss black grille, fascia and lower inserts, new 18-inch forged alloy wheels, upgraded HSV performance seats, a thicker sports steering wheel and additional HSV badging.
According to HSV, the extra branding is in response to customer feedback, meaning there’s now HSV logos on the side and rear of the tub as well as the front seat headrests, instrument panel and the floor mats.
The new performance seats remain wrapped in leather with Windsor suede inserts, however, the pattern has been revised and bolsters have been “substantially enhanced” for superior comfort and support.
The new rims are wrapped in the same Cooper Zeon LTZ Pro Sports All-terrain tyres as before.
Before anyone gets overexcited, there has been no power or torque improvements to the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine shared with the Holden Colorado, it continues to develop 147kW and 500Nm. It’s matched to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.
Braked towing capacity is rated at 3500kg, while the maximum payload is approximately 1 tonne.
Underneath the SportsCat remains the same, both SportsCat models feature HSV Sports Suspension with the front spring rate stiffened to 110 Newtons/mm with beefier spring rates, thicker strut braces up front and revised dampers for more performance-based handling characteristics.
Buyers can now choose from a broadened array of personalisation. Notably, those purchasing the V variant can delete the hard tonneau and sports bar to save $2500 from the final price.
