Australian specifications and pricing have finally been revealed for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz X-Class ute range.
Pricing isn’t as high as originally anticipated, the range opens with a $45,490 (plus on-road costs) for a rear wheel drive Pure cab chassis with a manual transmission.
From launch, two diesel engine choices will be available, X220d variants will utilise a 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel capable of 120kW/403Nm. X250d models stick with the same diesel engine, but outputs are raised to 140kW/450Nm.
Pricing for the range-topping V6-powered X350d models will be announced in 2018.
As previously reported, the X-Class will be available in three grades – Pure, Progressive and Power.
Pure variants are fairly basic and as such likely to appeal to fleets and tradies. Standard equipment includes a grained front bumper in black, rear bumper painted in black, rear view camera (not with cab chassis), halogen headlamps, plastic floor covering, load-securing rings on the sides of the load bed, tyre pressure monitoring, Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and 17-inch steel wheels.
Progressive models feature the more powerful X250d engine with all-wheel drive. Lifestyle buyers will find this a better starting point, standard kit highlights include a 7-inch infotainment system with touchpad, sat nav, carpeted floor covering, rain sensing wipers, front and rear bumpers painted in the vehicle colour and 17-inch alloys.
For those wanting to invest more in their ute, the Power trim level gets LED high-performance headlamps and part-LED tail lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable heated and folding outside mirrors, seat trim in artificial leather and microfibre, COMAND Online multimedia system, electrically adjustable front seats with lumbar support, 360-degree camera and keyless go.
Mercedes-Benz will bundle desirable features into option packs for each trim level, these are listed below.
